Saxophone Lessons Los Angeles - Red Pelican Music - Michael 2

Michael

Michael, who I am currently learning the saxophone from, is an excellent teacher. Instruction is clear and concise . . He adjusts the pace of the lesson according to your progress . . . Michael also tries to assist you with any problems you may have with your instrument during your lesson, ensuring that you are on the right track at all times. I would highly recommend Red Pelican, as well as Michael to anyone looking to learn music at any age!

Michael graduated from the University of Southern California’s renowned jazz performance program.  As a woodwind specialist — saxophone, clarinet and flute, Michael enjoys a wide-variety of musical styles ranging from classical to jazz to R&B.  An active performer and session musician, Michael has played on TV show soundtracks such as Suits and Grey’s Anatomy, and is performing with Brian Setzer Orchestra (“Jump Jive and Wail”), for their Christmas 2014 tour.

Michael’s teaching style is both fun and comprehensive.  Michael gives students a strong technical and theoretical foundation in music. This can then be applied to any kind of music including pop, jazz, and classical.   Michael then works with students to develop their playing style and ability in the genre of music that most interests them.

Michael’s musical favorites include:  John Coltrane, Joshua Redman, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power, and Bach.

Michael is currently available for online (virtual) lessons, as well as limited availability for local (in-person) lessons in the Long Beach, CA area.
