Josh is a skilled multi-instrumentalist, teaching electric bass, guitar dobro, and ukulele. His warm, patient demeanor and individualized lesson plans are a perfect fit for students of all skill levels and guitar styles. Josh believes in using a student’s favorite songs as a way to teach broader concepts in music theory, improvisation, and ear training.

Josh received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Studio/Jazz Guitar at the USC Thornton School of Music. There, he studied with world-renowned guitarists Frank Potenza, Bruce Forman, Steve Trovato, Pat Kelley, and Richard Smith. He became fluent in genres such as rock, pop, jazz, fusion, blues, and bossa nova, but quickly became known as “the guy” for rock and slide guitar styles at USC.
Josh’s favorite guitar players include: Jimi Hendrix, Derek Trucks, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Duane Allman, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mike Landau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joe Pass and Scott Henderson. Josh’s favorite bass players include: Jaco Pastorius, Pino Palladino, John Patitucci.
