Metal guitar lessons - Los Angeles - Red Pelican Music - Scott 1

Scott is a great teacher . . . He makes complex material seem simple and easy to understand. Every lesson I saw growth in my playing!

Scott was my music instructor from the time I was in eighth grade, all the way through high school, and I am now pursuing a music degree in college. Scott emphasized the importance of being a versatile player and exposed me to many different styles of music from rock to jazz to classical. One of the most valuable things he gave me is a strong grounding in music theory, which gave me a head start on college music classes. Scott has had a tremendous impact on me as a musician.

My son loves working with Scott for his guitar lessons. Scott has a super personality to teach guitar ‑ patient, focused, and he keeps it fun and interactive.

I've been taking guitar lessons with Scott for a few months now, and everything has been great. It is nice being able to learn using only music that I actually like. I don't think I would be nearly as motivated to practice if I was playing a standard selection of guitar learning songs . . . Overall highly recommended. Scott especially, if you enjoy metal!

Scott’s gentle and organized style works equally well with complete beginners, or folks working on advanced concepts – from jazz theory to metal guitar techniques (sweep picking arpeggios, etc).

As Scott says,  “If I can hear it, I can play it.”  Scott is an adept rock, progressive metal, blues, jazz, country and classical guitarist.  He specializes in working with adults, and offers both conventional 6-string, and 7-string guitar lessons.

Scott’s approach is to zero in on a student’s musical goals, and then guide them through the songs and applied theory necessary to actualize the student’s full potential.  Scott draws inspiration from a wide range of influences, including, Guthrie Govan, John Petrucci, Michael Romeo, Gus G, and Kiko Loureiro.

When not teaching guitar, Scott enjoys performing with rock bands, doing classical guitar gigs, and writing orchestral music.

In addition to studio and in-home lessons, Scott also offers guitar lessons via webcam (Skype).
