Raquel is a voice and piano teacher who has spent more than fifteen years working one-on-one with students from age five to eighty-five. Students and families describe her as funny, playful, and deeply caring. Her lessons pair rigorous musical training and high expectations with a genuine sense of fun. She gets to know each student as a whole person, builds on their interests, and helps them develop confidence, independence, and a musical identity of their own.

She specializes in musical theatre and contemporary vocal technique. Her piano teaching draws on classical training, jazz improvisation, and accompaniment, and her piano students have earned Distinction marks in ABRSM examinations. She introduces students to a wide range of styles so they can develop their own musical taste while building strong, lasting skills.

Raquel holds a BFA in Musical Theatre with an emphasis in directing from The Boston Conservatory and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. As a performer, she has appeared in leading roles in regional theatre, including Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray, and sang on the television series Glee. She has also performed as a soloist with the Boston Pops and sung the national anthem at Staples Center and Fenway Park. Raquel has music-directed youth productions and co-founded a children’s a cappella choir.
