acoustic guitar lessons Los Angeles - Red Pelican Music - George New 1

George

George is a terrific guitarist, composer, and music software guru, whose musical story spans several continents.

He grew up on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, and then spent 7 years in London, studying at both King’s College and London Centre of Contemporary Music. George cut his teeth as a session musician on London’s stages, recording studios and musical theater pits, before moving to Spain, to pursue his interest in composition. George earned a master’s degree in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games from Berklee College of Music’s new campus in Valencia. Since relocating to Los Angeles George has been teaching and performing while pursuing a career as a media composer.

George enjoys working with guitar, composition and software students of all ages. He teaches a diverse range of guitar styles, including blues, jazz, rock, funk, classical, pop and folk. As a composer, George is an avid user of Pro Tools, Logic X, Ableton and Sibelius. He enjoys showing students how to use these tools for scoring, songwriting, or electronic dance music production. George believes that each individual has his own pace and way of learning, and strives to personalise his lessons according to his students’ needs.

George’s favorite musicians include:  Louis Armstrong, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, The Beatles, Bill Evans, James Horner, Led Zeppelin, John Williams, Michael Giacchino, Snarky Puppy, Hans Zimmer, Rage Against The Machine.

George is available for online lessons (everywhere), and in-person lessons in Woodland Hills.

While not playing guitar or composing, George loves practicing Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art that combines self defence, acrobatics, music, dance and philosophy.
