My name is João! I’m a passionate guitarist, singer-songwriter, and seasoned performer from São Paulo, Brazil. I have been playing music since 2010 with intensive studies in various musical disciplines at Escola de Música e Tecnologia in São Paulo, Brazil, where I’m from, and eventually, the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. As an educator since 2016, I have dedicated myself to cultivating the talents of aspiring musicians and artists of all ages in guitar, vocals, bass, piano/keyboard and drumming! My approach to teaching is shaped by a rich educational background, including a scholarship-aided tenure at Berklee from 2018 to 2023, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in songwriting and a minor in philosophy. I believe in fully exploring and internalizing the fundamentals of music so that the music making process is fun, enjoyable and natural. I can also break down complex musical and technical subjects into digestible and actionable practices. My experience in college was not just about academic excellence; it was a transformative era that saw me refining my craft under the tutelage of musical luminaries such as Julien Kasper, Berta Rojas, Pat Pattison, Scarlet Keys, Abigail Aronson, Kim Perlak, Dave Tronzo, Sarah Brindell, Robert Stanton, Freddie Bryant, Robin Stone, Randy Roos, to name just a few of the greats who have inspired my own teaching and artistic philosophy. Today I share my music through all streaming services, live concerts with my own solo band besides local bands wherever I’m at and by teaching, which I love so much and is an integral part of my life!
