Trevor is an accomplished, classically-trained cellist with expertise in songwriting and production. With extensive experience in both classical and pop/rock settings, Trevor has worked with such prominent artists as Wyclef Jean, Imogen Heap, and The Click Five, and his cello can be heard in a broad variety of projects ranging from string quartets and orchestras to major label recordings and Hollywood film scores.
Trevor received his Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music, studying privately with Grammy award-winning cellist Eugene Friesen, and graduating summa cum laude in three years with a degree in performance. He maintains an active schedule performing, teaching and recording.
Trevor strikes a balance in his cello lessons, building on a foundation of traditional classical study while embracing the many wonderful roles the cello can play in the modern music world. Trevor discusses the tools of playing (i.e. proper bowing and finger technique) in the broader context of musicality, phrasing, character, and storytelling. He finds it incredibly rewarding to see his cello students go beyond simply following instructions and playing the correct notes!
Some of Trevor’s favorite musicians include: Yo-Yo Ma, Jaqueline Du Pre, Mstislav Rostropovich, Ray LaMontagne, Nickel Creek, and Frank Sinatra.
