Ted

Watching Ted play piano will make you shake your head and smile. He’s a fantastic pianist. Ted’s musical tastes and interests are eclectic – he is equally at home leading a jazz trio, playing Beethoven, or jamming with a rock band.

Ted earned a B.A. from University of Southern California, where he won a full scholarship, studying jazz and classical piano, and composition with Vince Mendoza, Alan Pasqua, Bernadene Blaha, and Patrice Rushen.

As a teacher, Ted loves helping students explore the universe of musical styles and concepts while building their fundamentals.  One of Ted’s great strengths is communication – he has the ability to break challenging concepts down to easily digestible nuggets.

While his #1 speciality is piano, Ted is also a terrific bass player – especially Motown 🙂

Ted’s favorite musicians include:  Blake Mills, Oscar Peterson, Emily King, Jason Isbell, Michael Giacchino, and Margaret Glaspy

*On a personal note, Ted loves hiking and camping. Ask him about his adventures in Yosemite, Joshua Tree or Big Sur.
