When taking violin lessons as a kid, imagine if your traditional classical violin teacher cracked a smile and busted out a flawless Jimi Hendrix solo. Cool eh? That’s Johnny. Johnny is a terrific classical violinist, but he’s also a ripping blues/rock, country, bluegrass, Irish folk, and Balkan fiddler.
As a teacher, Johnny establishes a technical foundation using the Suzuki method (a training curriculum emphasizing positive learning environments and auditory development), then proceeds in the musical direction each violin student wishes to explore. As Johnny says, “My priority is to make the challenges of violin playing a fun and rewarding experience for students, and to foster their own creative voices.”
Johnny attended University of Puget Sound on a music scholarship, where he was featured as a composer in the University Symphony tour. When not teaching or performing, Johnny is an avid songwriter, and a terrific beatboxer 😉
Johnny’s favorite musicians include: David Oistrakh, Jascha Heifetz, Hilary Hahn, Jimmy Page, Santana, Max Martin
