Brita holds a M.M. degree from UCLA in Violin Performance. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from McGill University in Montreal, and attended Interlochen Arts Academy for high school.
Brita has over ten years of teaching experience with students of all levels – young beginners, advanced students, and plenty of folks in-between. While Brita is a violin specialist, she also enjoys working with viola students, and beginning piano students. For the adventurous, Brita plays a special Norwegian instrument called the Hardanger Fiddle, that you might recognize from the Lord of the Rings.
Brita has performed as a soloist at Royce Hall, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, YouTube Space LA, MGM Records, The Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas, El Rey Theatre, to name a few venues.
Brita has a real passion for teaching – she loves helping students progress, and explore their unique musical interests. Her overall goal for teaching is helping students develop a strong technique, tone, and passion for their instrument.
Brita’s musical favorites include: James Ehnes, David Oistrakh, Itzhak Perlman, Hilary Hahn, The Beatles, Andrew Bird, Otis Redding, Beyoncé, Etta James, and Sigur Rós
When not playing traditionally, Brita enjoys experimenting with the electronic side of things – she has loop pedal and amp 🙂
